Post Christmas Decor

I need some help!! I’ve had this set of three frames hung on the wall for a while now and don’t know what type of image or medium to put in the tri-frame. Any ideas?
The two floral prints are from a book I purchased a while back while browsing an antique barn in St. Jacob’s.

And I just snapped a few pictures of some post Christmas decorating with two new birdie items I received. It’s my weakness.

Surprise! They are actually salt and pepper shakers. So cute!

Wall Art Collage

I’ve been dying to get something up on our bedroom wall as it had this unsettled feeling, like we weren’t totally moved in or waiting to move out. There is something about having pictures hung that make a room feel more complete, more personal. And that is what I was going for with this wall collage. Two pieces have more of a significant meaning to me and the husband and I hope to add pieces to it as I hunt and collect more frames.
I was really unsure how to go about putting it together so I found this great post here that helped me out. This was an example that I used.

I traced each frame on a piece of craft paper so I could find the best configuration for the space on the wall.

Option 3

We went with option three. I know that I want to add more frames and the other two options didn’t seem to leave a nice space for any later additions. And I just like this configuration the best.

Pretty Art Wall.

I purchased these white square Ribba frames from Ikea a few years ago.
A great cheap way find nice 'art' is to look in a card store.
I picked up some pretty square cards for about $5.00 each and popped
them into the frames.

For this one specific frame I changed the matting around it with patterned
scrapbook paper. The card inside is what I gave my son-to-be-husband
on our wedding day. I like how there are hidden words locked inside!

This lovely "birds on a wire" original painting was given to me on our engagement.
BFF had a former summer student of his paint it just for me.
I love it and its special meaning.

This is a cool vintage radio that BFF salvaged from the roadside.
It actually has a really cool sound.
I picked up this pretty glass antique lamp from V.V for $8.00 a while back.
All it needed was a new shade.

Whoooo's who?

Picked up a few "Who's" in the last few month.
$2.99 metal owl from HomeSense, an after Christmas clearance item!

This adorable (early birthday present to me) Owl purse pin.
Made by ETSY Designer Cuore
I just love it!

And finally, this totally rad stamp set from ETSY seller Lemon Tree Studio.
Seriously, she has the cutest fabric items, tags and other do-dads!
I scored this set for only $11.00!

Christmas Decor

I know it's been forever since I posted. But I started a new job which means I've had less time online to do my blog. I just wanted to share some little things I've done in my apartment to spruce it up for Christmas.

The top of my tv unit, with my charlie brown tree.
No room for a real one.

A tin JOY canister from Value Village for $2.00 and a square glass vase filled with dollar store bulbs.

Star Tin filled with cinnamon sticks and pine cones.

Of course I needed some sparkly birds on Christmas.

A pine cone garland strung above my couch.

With some jingle bells.

  Desktop in the hallway.

Cranberries and some textured wicker globes, added a frame for some height.

Adorable $10 snowman from Honest Eds.

The $4 stockings I picked up to start a new family tradition.

Antique Finds

A few nifty thrifty finds from various adventures. My newest favorite is the strawberry pitcher and matching bowl and it also has a special meaning as I picked it up the same morning David and I got engaged. I was able to swindle her down to $25 bucks for it. The Saint Lawrence market has a wide range of antique vendors on Sunday mornings for hands on exploration!

I picked up this swivel frame for $5.00 at the local fruit market.
I hope to put a mirror in in and spray is white.

My little 25 cent birdie.

I actually bought this six strand beauty at the same time as David bought my engagement ring.

 My lovely strawberry pitcher!

Pretty flowers I arranged the other day!

Have a nice weekend!

Edible Delights {The Decorated Cookie}

While viewing one of my favorite children's craft blogs, The Crafty Crow, I stumbled upon this wonderful blog, The Decorated Cookie. I just adore baking, wish I had more time to do it, and this blog totally inspires me to produce some of these adorable creations to share! Below is her super duper easy sugar cookie recipe.

Blue Bird Brownie Pops
Now these are something so cute and adorable, I just have to try make these one day!

Easy Lollies
I totally want to try this!

The Sugar Cookie Recipe

Sugar Cookies:

2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
1 cup confectioner's sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
(can add 1 1/2 tsp almond extract here. Yummy. I do that.)
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp salt

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and blend well. Add extracts and blend. Mix flour and salt and gradually add. Chill dough for about 2 hours before rolling out and cutting. Bake cut out cookies on parchment lined baking trays at 375 for 12-14 minutes.

*~A secret in the Barn~*

As we arrived at my parents for Father's day on the weekend, my brother was super excited to show us something. . . .

Brand new baby birds!

And a new batch!
Sadly, my dad and brother were insulating the
roof and had to remove this nest.
It's under a heat lamp. We don't know if Mama
bird will come back.
I just love robins egg blue!

Thanks David for the pictures!
