Brighten Your Day

I've been inspired by one of my new favorite blogs, Small stump + Studio Choo. They are a floral design company, "art studio and online shop based in the wee coastal town of Pacifica, California. The shop is stocked with a combination of artwork created by owner Jill Pilotte, floral arrangements, vintage goodies, and a growing selection of designs from other talented artists." You should check out their lovely designs!

So I just discovered these bursting flower shops on Avenue Rd, up from where I work that sell flowers at really decent prices. And I'm talking great selection of lovely flowers. So earlier this week I bought a bouquet for a friend of BFF's who is in the hospital, but could not deliver them. So I decided to create an arrangement for my table top instead! It made me happy last night! Filled my heart with delight to create with my hands.

Yellow pot $2.99, butterflies and ribbon Dollarama!

A yellow, green and white selection.

I'm not sure what this is, but it looks interesting! (mom, what is it!?)

 Fini!

Opening Shelving

After viewing the blog post from The Inspired Room about opening shelving in the kitchen, it got me thinking, thinking that I am NOT the kind of organized person to ever attempt this! Unless I had a large kitchen where there was room for some decorative kitchen ware to be perched upon a pretty shelf. But as for daily dishes, for me they are better hidden behind closed doors!

I may be able to do a smallish space like this with some baskets that still do some hiding.

Super Spooky cute

I think this garland is really cute! I don't know if I'd have the patience to cut everything out, but here are the instructions if anyone is willing to take the plunge. To make it more fun I thought you could even use fun patterned paper in fall colours.

From the creative mom at the blog Forty-Two Roads.

The instructions can be found here at Paper Crave.

Antique Finds

A few nifty thrifty finds from various adventures. My newest favorite is the strawberry pitcher and matching bowl and it also has a special meaning as I picked it up the same morning David and I got engaged. I was able to swindle her down to $25 bucks for it. The Saint Lawrence market has a wide range of antique vendors on Sunday mornings for hands on exploration!

I picked up this swivel frame for $5.00 at the local fruit market.
I hope to put a mirror in in and spray is white.

My little 25 cent birdie.

I actually bought this six strand beauty at the same time as David bought my engagement ring.

 My lovely strawberry pitcher!

Pretty flowers I arranged the other day!

Have a nice weekend!

Pumpkin Light

I thought I'd try my hand at creating some cute mini pumpkin candle holders. Little did I know that those small suckers are like cutting into a block of wood! My mom told me later that a drill should be used. Makes sense now. I'm pretty sure I dulled my knife down! Oh what we will do for decorating.

Three Little Pumpkins sitting all alone

One to go, by this time my hand was sore!

Just add a tea light and you're ready to go!

I also wrapped some orange ribbon around a cream candle and found these pumpkin candle holders at the dollar store.
