DIY Sheet Music Pinwheel Ornaments

I was eager to get my craft on when I found these sweet sheet music books at Goodwill for 99cents each.

I’m not sure if these are called pinwheels, but it’s the best description I can find.

I followed a tutorial found here at Style Me Pretty.

Framed Fun {project}

I've had this old frame for about 2 years now, just collecting dust in a corner. I picked it up at a thrift store for 2$. Then during my first visit to The Paper Place I had picked up this beautiful Japanese patterned paper. I knew I wanted to do something with it, but I wasn't sure what that was until I got home and saw the gold flecks in both the frame and the paper! Perfect!

I like the little etched detail

Pretty Paper

The finished project. Now, what should I do with it?

Eventually I want to make a wall collage of pretty framed things...I just need a wall!
Happy weekend! I'm off to that auction tomorrow (with my camera in tow).
I'll let you know how it pans out.

Super Spooky cute

I think this garland is really cute! I don't know if I'd have the patience to cut everything out, but here are the instructions if anyone is willing to take the plunge. To make it more fun I thought you could even use fun patterned paper in fall colours.

From the creative mom at the blog Forty-Two Roads.

The instructions can be found here at Paper Crave.

One of my besties had a beautiful little boy last month. Little Jimmy Jr. As part of his welcome to this world, I made him a special wall collage. I made a similar collage for my room and the instructions can be viewed in that post.

Lovely Places in Toronto: The Paper Place

What: A store that features textured, pattered Japanese Paper, but there is also a variety of other amazing paper to be oogled. Beautifully bound journals and books are sold for doodles and poems. Paper lanterns for summer hanging. Snippets and scraps collected in bags are also for sale.

Where: 887 Queen Street West, Toronto ON, M6J 1G5

Website: The Paper Place

Why I love this place: The sheer variety is amazing. The paper is sorted by colour which makes it easy if you have a project in mind. There are ideas around the store to inspire shoppers. Prices vary but there is something for everyone, even if you only have a dollar to spend. The people are friendly and helpful.

Handmade Wall Art

While trying to make my apartment more homey, I decided I needed some art for the walls. "Well, why not make my own?" I asked. I decided on a paper collage on a 12X12 1" canvas. I was initially inspired while visiting the The Paper Place.

My colour scheme for the bedroom is white (bed, dressers, shelving), tan (walls), green/mint (bedding and accessories). I hope to post some pictures of the bedroom once I find some drapery I'm happy with.

Supplies
12 x 12 1" canvas (Curry's Art store)
podgy glue
patterned paper
paper cutter
old paint brush for glue

T is for . . .

Picked up this pressed board 'T' at Michael's to add a personalized touch to the wall by Tayson's bed.
All you need is:
A letter of your choice
Some
podgey glue
Patterned paper
Scissors
30 minutes
(and maybe Wheel of Fortune! Yes I love that show!)

Blank "T" with Patterned Paper

I like this glossy Gel Medium, aka: glue
Got it at Curry's Art store.

Voila! A Transformed T.

That's Tayson's mousy friend.

String
Holepunch
A Flower Punch (I used one from Stamp'n Up)
Beads for in between flowers

~*~Pinwheel Craft~*~

Tayson and I are on a craft kick of sorts. I found this great Kids Craft book at Value Village with lots of seasonal crafty goodness. Last night, after finally getting the much needed 'pins' for the center, (Thank you Nana) we got to work. Below are the instructions. I hope you can read them and enjoy making a few as much as we did. I put them in a vase to enjoy the springy colours!

6x6 paper
pencils with earasers or straws

pins that fold out

We used straws after we ran out of pencil's.
