Upcoming Estate Sale Weekend

My heart almost stopped when I opened up the link that was attached in the email I received about an upcoming estate sale this weekend. (Yes, I subscribe to a list serve for estate sale*blush*) This is why:

Do you see that heavenly vintage arched lamp? It is PERFECT, and I mean PERFECT for our living room. We do not have an overhead light and I’ve seen these babies range from $300 - $500 dollars in some high end lighting stores. Now, I have no idea what the asking price will be on this piece of sweetness, but I think I’ll have to get out of bed early Saturday morning if I want it to be mine! I’m willing to sharpen my elbows for her. And the best part? My dear BFF love it too.

The sale is also boasting some pretty amazing looking dressers.
I’ll have to speak to the BFF, but I’m loving both these! Which one do you prefer?
I think the white and wood is a bit more timeless than the green.

There’s also this funky retro lamp as well. It’s like the baby to the mommy.

And my little eye spied this, way up in the corner of the picture. Can you guess what I’m looking at?

I don’t know what’s with me and lighting, but that is what I have seemed to spot at this up coming sale!

If they have some of these fun, funky, vintage, retro pieces, I can’t wait to see what else is in the house!

6:40 wake up call Saturday morning! Wish me luck!

Anthropologie Store Find

So, during a walk on one of my lunches through Yorkville, I happily discovered that there is an Anthropologie store only two blocks from me! Like, WHAT? Seriously, how could I have missed this for almost a year now!? To say the least I was stoked and spent a good portion of the remainder of my lunch browsing the two level wonder. I can't wait to find some sales on items that I adore once they do a summer clearance.

Old in the City

On my lunch one day I decided to take a walk around the University of Toronto campus. It's like this strange escape in the middle of the city. These old buildings and massive trees are pristine among the backdrop of skyscrapers and condos.

Travels on Transit

Daily I try to remind myself of Mr. Rogers theme song, "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood." Why you may ask? Because I quite often feel suffocated, flabbergasted, amused, amazed and utterly confused by some of the things I witness on the subway every day. Taking public transit to and from work has it's pluses (+) and minuses (-) of course. But some days, it severely slopes negative. Negative in terms of being shoved onto a train, hustled down the stairs, having a back pack skim my face, getting coughed on, sneezed on, spit on etc., being herded like cattle from one train to the next, having someone's body odor stick to my jacket. You know, the sorts of things you think parents teach their kids NOT to do in public. Gross you may say? Well just to make you think, I spared you some of the 'worsts' I've seen, heard, and yes, even smelled.

I'm shocked at what people will say and do while in such close proximity to others.
The best was overhearing an entire fight between a woman and her boyfriend, all about how he didn't pick up the proper laundry detergent the day before. Rude cellphone users irk me. Why do they think the entire train wants to know their business? It only keeps me awake while I'm trying to catch some zzz's.

Or what about the time a girl ran over a gentleman's toes with her metal white shopping trolley and didn't even turn to apologize! The nerve! We caught each others eyes and shared a knowing smirk, Toronto subway users are rude.

So much for Canada being a 'friendly' country. Maybe in Halifax or Calgary, but in this metropolis called Toronto, I've witnessed my share of rudeness.

Maybe tomorrow on the train I'll whistle a little tune, right beside my 'neighbor' who falls sleep on my shoulder.
